Bureau of Corrections

The Bureau of Corrections has oversight over inmate custody and care, and transportation. The Gadsden County Jail is responsible for housing inmates that are awaiting trial or transfer of custody to their appropriate jurisdiction.

Primary Objectives:

Transportation

  • Transport inmates to medical facilities, court appearances and other correctional and prison facilities.
  • Extradition of fugitives from other states and county jurisdictions

Faith-Based Initiatives
In November 2004, the Rev. Jimmy Salters became the first full-time Chaplain in the history of the Gadsden County Jail. He immediately began organizing local ministers (who were already visiting the corrections facility) in a structured environment for spiritual programs.

These initiatives are designed to give inmates an opportunity for spiritual growth in an effort to reduce recidivism. It also allows for interaction between the faith community and the incarcerated.

The Gadsden County Jail is supervised by the corrections bureau chief.
